This is me at 14, walking down the driveway holding the mail.

At the time, I was probably trying to figure out how to hack my Spanish language writing assignment on Don Quijote by turning it into a musical recording on my mom’s video camera.
Or maybe I was running lines for Into the Woods in my head—I was playing Cinderella at that time at the local all boys’ school.
Or, if I’m honest, I was probably thinking, “Daaaaad. Why are you taking a photo of me!?”
Teenage Thoughts
I definitely wasn’t thinking about building a company. I for sure wasn’t thinking about how hard it would be for parents — disproportionately women (often in charge of family logistics) — to find care they could trust without 8 facebook groups, 10 texts to mom friends and the class whatsapp group, a couple of platform subscriptions, and a spreadsheet to keep it all organized.
Looking Back
That being said, if I could whisper something to my 14-year-old self in the photo, I think I’d say something like: “I’m excited for you. You are going to have so much fun, AND build something worth working on every day.”
