Have you ever wondered how many people share your job title—or something close to it?
Have you ever searched for your role or favorite word on LinkedIn under the “People” tab?
It’s a surprisingly powerful way to see how many folks are connected by similar work, identities, or aspirations.
I did a little digging, and here are a few that came up.
The Numbers
Here is a full list of the numbers that I found:
⏸️ Career Break – 40,000
👶 Babysitter – 234,000
🧑🍼 Nanny – 477,000
❤️ Caregiver – 895,000
🎯 Executive Director – 5,680,000
🤖 AI – 10,000,000
💼 CEO – 11,200,000
📣 Marketing – 58,300,000
📈 Sales – 62,100,000
✍️ Assistant – 62,500,000
🤝 Service – 95,000,000
📋 Manager – 113,000,000
Caregivers
According to the World Health Organization, it’s estimated that over 349 million people around the world are unpaid caregivers. And when you include paid care workers—nannies, home health aides, elder care workers—that number likely tops half a billion.
And yet, “Caregiver” doesn’t even crack the top 10.
We clearly have a long way to go in how we recognize, professionalize, and value this work.
Recognition
Imagine if “Caregiver” held the same weight on LinkedIn as “Manager”—because it should.
The numbers reveal a stark disconnect between the essential work being done globally and how we professionally recognize it.
This gap represents not just a statistical curiosity but a fundamental undervaluation of care work in our professional ecosystems.
Conclusion
Share this with someone whose care work deserves to be seen and celebrated.
Let’s start reshaping the narrative together.
✨ And if you’re so inclined—and if you identify as a caregiver—consider adding it to your LinkedIn profile. Let’s be the change we hope to see.
